Why We Built SpeakRoar
The story behind our first AI SaaS product — what problem we were solving, what we got wrong early, and what shipping it taught us about building AI for real users.
Createnano LLC
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Createnano was founded on a simple belief: that great AI should be accessible to anyone with a real problem worth solving — not just companies with billion-dollar R&D budgets.
SpeakRoar was our first real test of that belief.
The Problem
Content creators, video producers, and businesses were spending enormous amounts of time and money recording voiceovers. Professional voice talent is expensive. Studio time is expensive. Revisions are slow. And if you're a solo creator or a small team, none of that infrastructure is realistic.
The AI voice tools that existed at the time fell into two camps: cheap and robotic, or enterprise-tier and inaccessible. There was no middle ground — no tool that combined studio-quality voices with a workflow that didn't require a PhD to operate.
That gap is what we built into.
What We Got Wrong Early
Our first version was too focused on the model. We had excellent voice quality — 2,600+ natural voices across 25+ languages — but the product experience was rough. Users didn't know which voice to pick. The editor was confusing. Exporting audio took too many steps.
We learned something important: in AI products, the model quality is the floor, not the ceiling. What users actually feel is the workflow. If the workflow is broken, a world-class model won't save you.
We went back, rebuilt the editor from scratch, added the multi-track video dubbing studio, integrated the Euper AI writing assistant, and simplified the core voice generation flow down to three steps: paste text, pick a voice, export.
What We Shipped
SpeakRoar launched with:
- 2,600+ AI voices in 25+ languages - Built-in audio editor with pitch, EQ, reverb, fade, and noise reduction — all in-browser, no installs - Video dubbing studio — upload video, place voices on a timeline, export as MP4 - Euper AI assistant — real-time spell check, content generation, and translation to 16 languages - Multi-track timeline — voice, background music, and up to 10 effects on separate tracks
It went live at speakroar.com. Real users. Real revenue. Real feedback.
What It Taught Us
Shipping SpeakRoar taught us three things we apply to every project now:
One: The hardest part of an AI product is not the AI. It's the product surface around the AI — the UI, the workflow, the moment a user realizes they can trust what the model gives them.
Two: Build something you would actually use. We use SpeakRoar internally for content. That pressure keeps the product honest.
Three: Ship early, iterate fast. The version of SpeakRoar we have today is better than what we planned in month one because real users showed us what actually mattered.
That's the loop we intend to repeat with every product we build at Createnano.
